Booger Bee

Ever since starting preschool, Bug has had the obligatory runny nose.  He got his first preschool cold about a week after starting and the boogers haven’t stopped.  In the last week or so he’s developed a nasty cough to go along with all the snot.  Ahhh, the joys of having small children.  Until school, he had only had two fevers… both due to roseola… and not a single snot-fest or bad cough.

On the plus side, though, he added another task to his growing list of basic commands he can follow… blowing his nose.  Granted, he doesn’t warrant enough power to shoot slime out his nose (yet), but he still helps get the job done.  Side note on nose blowing: do you use Boogie Wipes?  I won some several months ago on This Place is Now a Home and they are awesome!  I had seen them before and honestly thought that they were kind of a crock.  But, after winning a giant tub of them and going through countless nose wipes a day with nary a red, chapped nose in sight… I’m sold.  I will totally buy more when my giant tub runs out.

Tuesday, Bug got his final set of vaccinations until he is 4 years old.  Woot!  He was a trooper.  The crappy part?  Yesterday, I got a call from preschool at noon saying he had a fever and I had to come pick him up.  Not woot.  He was happy as a clam, just running a fever.  So, I picked him up and we spent the rest of the afternoon laying on the couch together watching Yo Gabba Gabba… or as Bug says, “debbadebba.”  I think TV might be our sick day ritual.  And snacks in the living room on the couch.  He woke up cool as a cucumber this morning, so I am hoping that fever was just from his shots.

Knock on wood, but we have yet to see real vomit from this child.  I am not looking forward to the day that we wake up to a screaming toddler who just yurfed all over his crib.  I can just see it now.  Ugh.

Also, that adorable picture of my child in my cowboy hat has nothing to do with any of this post.  It is just cute and breaks up my yammering on about boogers & puke.

What special things do you do for your kiddos on sick days?

  1. So I’m stalking all of your daycare posts now, lol and fyi Sam’s club carries a HUGE container of Boogie wipes. We go through them like crazy when Sullivan is sick so I just leave them on the kitchen counter next to the hand sanitizer.

    • Hopefully those posts are of some help!! Thanks so much for stopping by 🙂 I must go to Sam’s… like today… for more Boogie Wipes. I am almost out and Eli came down with a(nother) cold yesterday!
